Tucked into the Andean foothills we have access to several hidden spring creeks. These streams offer sight-casting opportunities never before seen in northern Patagonia. This is truly a dry fly angler’s dream where targeting individual browns, rainbows and brook trout is the game. If you are looking for something other than fishing small spring creeks or just want more variety you are in luck! Your location also provides you with easy access to float several sections of the Alumine or enjoy a day fishing one of the nearby pristine mountain lakes.
During this portion of the adventure accommodations will be provided at Casa de Campo lodge. Daniel and Marisa, the owners, will make you feel right at home and spoil you with their delicious home cooked meals. This refurbished ranch house, with its peaceful atmosphere, is situated in close proximity to the areas incredible fishing opportunities.
Towards the conclusion of this adventure you will travel slightly south to Junín de los Andes. Here you will begin a two-day float on the lower Chimehuin River targeting rainbows and browns. The Chimehuin was made famous in the 1960’s by the likes of Joe Brooks, Lefty Kreh, Mel Kreiger and Billy Pate. The majority of the lower section has restricted access. Fortunately, Andes Drifters has permission from various ranch owners to wade and float these private and limited access waters. The fishing technique is hopper/dropper, steamers and small dries. Your two days of fishing will be accompanied with a one-night stay in an Andes Drifters Deluxe River Camp. As with all our Deluxe Camps everything imaginable is provided and this is a unique way to experience Patagonia. Your dedicated staff will attend to all your needs and make this a memorable experience.
When fishing concludes on day seven your private transfer will take you back to San Martin de los Andes. You will check-in at the Antares Patagonia for your final nights stay. Your included dinner and wine will be served at the closed-door restaurant Oma do los Andes.
